Another Reason to Invest in Diesel Hybrid Technology......

I have said for the past year and half that diesel hybrids are the wave of the future. Hydrogen fuel cells, in my opinion will be tabled until the government decides to invest $100 billion into hydrogen filling station infrastructure. Below is a quote from the "Car of the Future" story which stands behind my prediction.

 

"An MIT study predicts the diesel hybrid could outperform a hydrogen fuel cell engine on both gasoline mileage and carbon emissions - within 10 years."

 

Gasoline hybrids and their so called fuel economy have been fooling people for years. The ONLY way to achieve EPA approved mileage on the window sticker is if your a taxi driver in New York City. Which I might add is why mayor Bloomberg (Mayor Plans an All-Hybrid Taxi Fleet) has added 375 hybrid taxis to it's fleet in the past two years. By October of this year the amount will triple with a 20% growth each consecutive year. Drive any hybrid on the highway and guess what?....the engine is running. So much for fuel savings. Replace the gasoline engine on a hybrid with a diesel and...BOOM a 30% increase in fuel economy. Sure you may pay a bit more for the diesel hybrid but think about the advantages:

• Resale Value
• Fuel Consumption
• CO2 emissions - 20% less
• Increased torque 

Makes sense to me.
